Updated: Jul 29, 2024

A deliciously healthy snack or breakfast option that's super easy to make and packed with chia seed and banana goodness.

The benefits of chia seeds and bananas

Chia Seeds

These tiny little seeds are an excellent source of fiber, which can improve heart health, reduce cholesterol levels and promote intestinal health.

Bananas

Bananas are a great source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin B6, and other important nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of whole grain, rye or sourdough bread

  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or any nut butter of your choice)

  • 1 ripe banana, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • Honey or maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)

  • Cinnamon (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

1. Toast the Bread: Toast the slices of whole grain bread until they are golden brown and crispy.

2. Spread Peanut Butter: Once the toast is done, spread each slice with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (or your chosen nut butter). Make sure to spread it evenly to the edges of the toast.

3. Add Banana Slices: Arrange the sliced banana on top of the peanut butter layer. You can place them in a single layer or slightly overlap them, depending on your preference.

4. Sprinkle Chia Seeds: Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of chia seeds over each slice of toast, making sure to distribute them evenly.

5. Optional Toppings: If desired, drizzle a little bit of honey or maple syrup over the top for added sweetness. You can also sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavour.

6. Serve: Your peanut butter chia seed banana toast is now ready. Serve it immediately while the toast is still warm and the peanut butter is melting.  Accompany this snack with a cup of tea for maximum effect.

Enjoy!
