Updated: Aug 13, 2024

Banana nice cream is a super yummy and healthy alternative to traditional ice cream. It's time to indulge.

If you love ice cream this is the recipe for you. Packed full of banana goodness you can indulge as much as you like and feel great about it!

Benefits of bananas

Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin B6 and other important nutrients. They're also good for digestive and overall heart health.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas peeled, sliced, and frozen

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy) as needed

    Optional add-ins:

  • 1 tablespoon nut butter (such as peanut butter or almond butter)

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Honey or maple syrup to taste (optional for added sweetness)

  • Chopped nuts, chocolate chips or fresh fruit for topping

Instructions

1. Freeze the Bananas

Slice the ripe bananas into coins and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the banana slices for at least 2-3 hours or until solid.

2. Blend

Once the banana slices are frozen transfer them to a blender or food processor. Add any optional add-ins of your choice such as nut butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract or sweetener.

3. Blend Until Smooth

Blend the frozen banana slices and optional add-ins until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender or food processor occasionally. If the mixture is too thick you can add a tablespoon or two of milk to help it blend.

4. Serve

Once the mixture is smooth and creamy transfer it to serving bowls. You can enjoy it immediately for a soft-serve texture, or you can transfer it to a container and freeze it for an hour or two for a firmer texture.

5. Top and Enjoy

Serve your banana nice cream with your favourite toppings such as chopped nuts, chocolate chips or fresh fruit.

6. Store

If you have any leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a few days. Allow the ice cream to soften for a few minutes at room temperature before serving.

Enjoy!
