Fasole Batută (Mashed White Beans with Garlic)

Fasole Batută, a traditional Romanian dish made from mashed beans, is packed with health benefits and super easy to make.


Fasole Batută is an excellent source of plant-based protein, fiber, and essential nutrients like iron, potassium, and folate. Make Fasole Batută


Ingredients (Serves 3-4)


• 1 cup dried white beans (or 2 cups canned beans)

• 3-4 cloves garlic (minced)

• 2 tablespoons oil (sunflower or any vegetable oil)

• ½ teaspoon salt

• ½ teaspoon black pepper

• ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)


Instructions


1. Cook the Beans:

• If using dried beans, soak them overnight, then boil until soft (about 1-1.5 hours). Drain.

• If using canned beans, simply drain and rinse.

2. Mash the Beans:

• Mash the beans using a fork or blender until smooth.

• Add salt, pepper, and a little oil for creaminess.

3. Prepare the Garlic Oil:

• Heat the remaining oil in a small pan.

• Add minced garlic and cook until golden (not burned).

• If using paprika, add it now for extra flavor.

4. Combine and Serve:

• Mix the garlic oil into the mashed beans.

• Serve warm or cold with bread, pickles, or as a spread.


This dish is protein-packed, cheap, and full of flavor.
