It started with one mum’s experience. Now we want to change the experience for thousands more.

Our Story

The Lemonade Project was born from the personal experience of our founder, Billie Woodcraft.

As a mum of three boys, Billie knows first-hand just how transformative — and challenging — pregnancy, birth and the postnatal years can be. Through her own journey into motherhood, she experienced struggles with her maternal health and began to understand how easily women can feel overwhelmed, isolated and disconnected from themselves during this huge period of change.

She also saw a gap.  There was plenty of information telling women what they should be doing, but far fewer opportunities for women to access practical, welcoming support that helped them actually feel better — to move their bodies, rebuild their confidence, look after their mental and physical health and connect with other women going through the same thing.

For Billie, movement became an important part of navigating motherhood. As a yoga teacher, she saw the difference that accessible movement, breathing, connection and community could make — not only to physical health, but to how women felt in themselves.

That experience became the starting point for The Lemonade Project.

Turning personal experience into something bigger

What began with Billie's own experience has grown into a much bigger mission: to make maternal health and wellbeing support easier to access for every woman, regardless of her background, income or postcode.

The Lemonade Project brings together movement, maternal health, nutrition and community in one accessible programme. We work with women during pregnancy and throughout the postnatal years, creating opportunities to move, learn, connect and feel supported.

Through our digital platform, local classes, community events, buggy walks, workshops and trained local ambassadors, we want to reach women where they are — particularly those who might otherwise face barriers to taking part.

Because maternal health shouldn't be something women have to navigate alone.

Billie's story may have been the beginning, but The Lemonade Project is about the experiences of thousands of women — and building a future where every mum has the opportunity to feel healthier, stronger, supported and connected.
